I was pleased to get an invitation for celebrating Poland’s Constitution Day and so I went to this really formal event. I had my own purpose to come to this reception (I needed to “hunt” for distinguished people) but I was afraid that I will feel ill at ease. |

Though, I met there few familiar faces: Loreta Zakareviciene from Lithuanian Embassy who was so kind to introduce me to Mindaugas Kacerauskis (right hand of EU Special Representative for Moldova), Lilia Snegureac – director of Information Office of the CoE who was also very kind to introduce me to Nikolay Iliev – Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria and Cesare de Montis – Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Moldova. I met there several Moldova politicians and had a chance to talk to ambassadors of Poland, United States and Ukraine.
What was that special about this reception? Firstly, it was a dilemma in what language to talk, it is not a problem for me talking in Russian, Romanian or English but I didn’t know from which one to start. Secondly, I guess it was very funny to watch me walking round the hall and talking to different people and giving them my business card (yes I am cool, I have my business card) and inviting them to our conference. What are my impressions about this reception? The level was very high, everything was made with good taste: music, food and drinks, Ambassador’s speech and guests. Dorin Chirtoaca (our mayor) has a really strong hand shake and was very glad to hear that there is an NGO supporting European initiatives and also invited me for inauguration of EU flag on 8 of May in the central square. Cesare de Montis is a really nice person, not that formal and severe as his status, consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland is also a very friendly and smiley person.
What more to say…I came to the idea that I do not like these kind of formal events, but they are certainly necessary. You got a chance to talk to very interesting people whom may be you don’t meet in your daily life. Happy Constitution Day to Poland!!!
