Another amazing author and another amazing book: “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” written by Muriel Barbery.
An incorporation of a great mind and searching soul. Very erudite characters and very profound thoughts. The book combines excellent language patterns expressing the main themes: philosophy, class consciousness, personal conflicts and literature.
It’s another book in my list of “read in Italian”. Here is one of my favourite quotes:
|
“l’eleganza del riccio: fuori e’ protetta da aculei, una vera e propria fortezza, ma dentro e’ semplice e raffinata come i ricci, animaletti fintamente indolenti, risolutamente solitari e terribilmente eleganti” “the elegance of the hedgehog: on the outside she is covered in quills, a real fortress, but my gut feeling is that on the inside, she has the same simple refinement as the hedgehog: a deceptively indolent little creature, fiercely solitary and terrible elegant.” |
