AWAKE

awakeposter07.jpg

This was my first time I saw Jessica Alba as a negative hero. The “AWAKEmovie is a psychological thriller (but it starts pretty nice and easy, like a simple love story) about a common occurrence called “anesthetic awareness” a horrifying phenomenon wherein a patient’s failed anesthesia leaves him fully conscious but physically paralyzed during the surgery.

A really horrifying phenomenon, can you imagine hearing what doctors are talking about while cutting your flesh and you even feel it (for a moment during the movie, I felt really sick and frightened).

The main character Clay Beresford (Hayden Christensen) is a Capital-investment firm chief, a rich guy who fall in love with his mother’s personal assistant, Sam (Jessica Alba). The main point is that he has problems with health and he needs heart transplantation. The two are so in love with each other that even the fact that his mother did not welcome their relationship did not stop them from a secret marriage in a church at midnight.

The following heart surgery reveals a terrible secret to Clay when after the anesthesia he remains in conscious and realizes that his doctor and at the same time his friend is intended to kill him.

But why??? Here is the beginning of the most interesting part of the film!!! I advice you to see it!!!

Dr. House II

I am in love … with House, if there is a man on this planet who is like him I am taking applications for the role of … let him be my husband at once.

I am watching now an episode about love that kills. Every time she enters the door he is having a heart attack.

Interesting, medically proved that love can kill … House is still that lovely bastard suffering from his pain (and not only) taking his drugs and even not trying to give up. There are things one should learn from him (accept some that are destructive). The “One Tree Hill” is on his way to be downloaded and watched (thanks Nika for suggestion, sorry still think House is less depresing, at least for me), I think I will remain to be addicted to TV shows (good TV shows).

We all make mistakes, and we all pay a price.

We are selfish-based animals crawling across the earth, but because we’ve got brains, if we try really hard, we can usually aspire to something that is less than pure evil.

Cake and ale

I started to read “Cake and ale” by Maugham first. Though I am not a big fan of classic literature I had no other choice. First half of the book went through my mind leaving no impression, though, later it turned out to be a good book.

One can always find something useful and interesting for him in a book. Having no chance for a peaceful sleep I read the book very fast and finished it in the train from Lisbon to Santa Comba Dao.

As we grow older we become more conscious of the complexity, incoherence and unreasonableness of human beings.
