Will the books disappear in time? Will the books as we know them today, in hard or soft cover, still exist in 20 or 50 years? People started reading less, they watch TV, browse Internet and those who still read prefer eBooks. What will happen with the libraries and book stores, what will do the publishing houses on 50 years? |
A small device that can keep thousands of books, that does not occupy space on your bookshelf, that does not weight as much as your favourite hardcover book and that you can take with you anywhere, isn’t it a perfect solution?
I am old fashioned in this matter, I like the smell of the book, I like to turn the pages, I like to have in my hands a real hardcover book. Though I do realize that an eBook is more handy for my travels, for my budget (good books cost money) and also for the language preferences. I read books in three languages and now I realise that their destiny is to collect the dust after I finish reading them, I can not share my Russian books with someone in Italy. For sure the world forests will say “Thank you” for consuming less paper but this technological evolution starts to remind me the film Surrogates, who know what is waiting for us in 50 years?
